Welcome Zianna!!!

We are lucky to have an assistant teacher this year at school. I won't introduce her, she will:

Hi there!My name is Zianna, and I am here for the year to help out with teaching English. I share my time here between two schools, IES Salvador Rueda and IES Juan de la Cierva.I am from Manchester, England and live in the countryside with my parents, in the Valley of Rossendale. I also have an older brother who lives in the French Alps. I am currently studying Spanish at the University of Warwick, and live at the university in a house with my two best friends. This year is my third year at university, and I will return next September for my final year before I graduate!In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, climbing and water sports, although I don’t get much chance to do water sports in England! I also like listening to all different types of music and going to concerts.So, I guess that’s it for now, but I would love to get to know you all a little better. If you see me around, please don’t be shy, say hi and introduce yourself. I don’t bite!!

Same time passport to seven different English speaking countries

Last Friday, our 3º and 4º de ESO students guided both their teachers and schoolmates into the history, traditions, culture and stereotypes of seven different English speaking countries in the world: England, Scotland, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Australia and India.

Each country was exhibited in different rooms by means of music, dancing, singing, shows, lectures, dialogues, role-plays… It goes without saying all our students put their English into practice one way or another.

It was a highly informative and fun “journey” we didn’t need a passport or money for!!!

City Race IES Salvador Rueda 2017

After runners arrive at our school, they will find that today's specials are based on different parts of the English speaking world. They will be able to try American Meatloaf, as well as British Chicken Pie together with some Australian salad.  Besides they will be treated with some Spanish Bizcocho, either with or without chocolate on it. They will most surely enjoy it all!!!! They deserve it just because of the great effort made on such a hot day.........

The Water Project for 1º de ESO

This year teachers from different areas have been working on a project addressed to 1º de ESO students. The common topic has been WATER.

A multidisciplinary approach has been adopted and each subject has contributed to it in a different way.  For example, English teachers and students worked on an adaptation of the song "I'm Singing in the Rain". Besides students worked on tips for saving water at home. The P.E. teacher and his students enjoyed a morning out kayaking. They bordered the conserved Maro-Cerro Gordo cliffs. The Science teacher took students to examine the beach in Almayate. With the Social Science teacher, students recorded some videos showing the use of water throughout history. Above were some samples of all this work. We hope you have enjoyed them as much as teachers and students did!!!

Skygate at Málaga's Airport

Last Wednesday 22nd February, our 4º de ESO and 3º de ESO B students enjoyed a great visit to Málaga-Costa del Sol International Airport. They took part in the Skygate programme and then they had a look at the Airport's Museum. The students also had the chance of practising English in a real context because they interviewed English speaking passengers and had great fun.

School staff played Secret Santa!

On December 23rd teachers and school staff enjoyed a morning snack and played Secret Santa during the break. The aim was fostering coexistence and the use of English through messages written in English before and during the exchange of presents:
